PopGoesTheNews.com >> As a mob of self-proclaimed anarchists left a trail of destruction on the streets of Toronto and an unprecedented number of police officers hit the streets to protect world leaders, celebrities went about their business in Toronto this past weekend.
Katie Holmes, who is in the city to shoot scenes for the mini-series The Kennedys, took daughter Suri to the Strawberry Festival at Whittamore's Farm in Markham. Toronto-raised Kiefer Sutherland came home for a weekend with friends and family, spending time at a College Street bar and lunching with sister Rachel in Yorkville. Sutherland's 24 director Jon Cassar is in town working on The Kennedys.
The show had to go on for jazz artists Harry Connick Jr. and Herbie Hancock, who performed as scheduled at the Canon Theatre and at Nathan Phillips Square respectively. Hancock acknowledged the G20 summit a few blocks away before doing his version of John Lennon's "Imagine."
Actor Bill Nighy (Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) was in Toronto specifically for the G20 after spending a day in Huntsville during the G8 in his role as an Oxfam ambassador.
High Stakes co-stars Ashley Tisdale and Austin Butler enjoyed a day off on Saturday and stayed away from the mayhem but were back in the studio on Sunday.
