Celebs bare their soles to kick off charity shoe drive

PopGoesTheNews.com >> A group of celebrities were at the Ron White store in Yorkville today to kick off the 13th Annual Shoe Drive for the Homeless.

On hand for the launch were (pictured from left) Olympic medalist Adam van Koeverden, rocker Suzie McNeil, retailer Ron White, Virgin Radio morning show co-host Billie, Broadway star Louise Pitre and Toronto's Breakfast Television host Dina Pugliese.

Silver medal kayaker van Koeverden (pictured, far right) donated the shoes he wore on the podium at last summer's Olympic Games.

All six Ron White store locations in the Toronto area will be collecting gently worn footwear that will be cleaned up, sorted and distributed to those in need.

“I am so proud to partner with like-minded celebrities and personalities who serve as an inspiration to others, to follow in their footsteps and help those in need,” said White, who has to date collected more than 16,000 pairs of shoes and boots for the needy.

Shoes signed by celebrities -- including Michael Cera, Hilary Duff and Nick Carter, will be on display in the stores. British actor Jeremy Irons donated the shoes he wore while filming 1981's The French Lieutenant's Woman.
