Facebook continues to grow in Canada

TORONTO (PGN) >> Facebook is the fourth most popular website in Canada, according to statistics released today.

The social networking site had 14.4 million visitors in October, up from 13.8 million in September, comScore Media Metrix reports. A year ago, Facebook had about 1 million Canadian visitors.

Microsoft sites are in the top spot, attracting 22.2 million visitors last month. Google and Yahoo! follow with 22 million and 16.8 million respectively. In fifth spot is eBay, with 13.9 million visitors.

Time Warner Network, Wikipedia, Yellow Pages, Amazon and Canoe also made the list of the top 10 Internet properties in Canada.

The statistics compiled by comScore do not include sites accessed through mobile devices or at public terminals like Internet cafes.

The biggest growth in October happened at NHL Network sites, which grew 44 percent from September to 3.9 million visitors. Video site Crackle.com helped Sony Online jump 27 percent to 2.6 million.
